SELF-GUIDED TOUR: Take the Lands End Challenge
Boy, are we excited that you're taking on this route. Lands End has a great view and will be well worth the quest you are about to embark on. However, the route is steep with quite a bit of elevation gain (gotta love those San Francisco hills) and may take about an hour to complete. This route may be better suited for more experienced cyclists. Feel free to ask our bike rental experts which one would be best for you to take on this challenge.
Directions:
First stop is Sports Basement Presidio where you can use that voucher we gave you to stock up on essentials like nutrition bars and water.
From there, follow the Golden Gate route until you reach the USF Presidio Building. Turn left on Crissy Field Avenue. That climb will dump you right onto Lincoln Blvd., which you'll follow for nearly 2 miles. At the top of Lincoln Blvd., you'll want to stop to take photos. But after that, just continue to fly down Lincoln and you'll curve onto Camino del Mar. Stay left and you'll have made it to Lands End! We bow down to your mighty strength and savvy navigation.
At the Land's End:
If you want to check out the Legion of Honor or the Holocaust Memorial, head back a bit and follow signs for each. Don't forget to snap a few triumphant pictures before riding down Lands End trail. While you're exploring, stop at the Visitor's Center and check out Sutro Baths, an old swimming pool with a crazy history.
Now, before you freak out about climbing back up that massive hill you sped down - don't worry, you don't have to! When you're ready to head back, follow Camino Del Mar and then take a slight right onto Lake St. You'll ride on (shaded, basically flat) Lake St. until you turn left on 14th. Then, follow Park Trail through the Presidio. Turn left onto Washington and then an immediate right onto Park Blvd, which will take you back to Crissy Field Ave and then right back towards Sports Basement Presidio!
